Tithing with the prophet

In Malachi 3:9, it says to bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. How does
this express itself in life nowadays?

The Hebrew term for tithing is ma’aser. It is performed nowadays in two ways:
1. We are obligated by Jewish law to donate slightly more than 1 percent of produce grown in the land of Israel (within the Biblical borders) to the Cohanim and Leviim and, in certain years, ten percent also to the poor. This involves many details and there are organizations that deal with it. The better Kashrut organizations make sure among other things that the produce being used in the food under their supervision has been ma’asered.
2. We are obligated to donate ten percent of our earnings to the poor or to charitable institutions.
