Good morning. A question arose in a class I’m teaching.

Do we know if there were any coverings on the floor in the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle in the time of Moses? Thank you for your insights and ideas.

Since you mentioned the time period that Moses was alive, you are referring to the Tabernacle in the desert. In that Tabernacle  there was no floor covering. However later on, in the first Temple, the floor covering was made of cypress wood and gold inlay, (as mentioned in the book of Kings, in the first chapter,) and in the Second Temple, the floor covering was made of marble and precious stones. In recent times archeologists have discovered remnants of the flooring from the Second Temple period.
