Reading the Haftarah without Ta’amim (cantillation notes):
May a person be called up for Maftir if he has a chiuv (obligation to be called up) even if he does not know how to read the Haftarah according to the Ta’amim? Should he read without Ta’amim, or should he just recite the blessing and someone else can read according to the Ta’amim?
Answer: A person who does not know how to read the Haftarah according to the Ta’amin should not be called up for Maftir, even if he knows how to read the letters correctly vocalized. If he was mistakenly called up, he should only say the blessings and someone else should read the Haftarah aloud.
