why is there a women section in the synagogue?

although women aren’t obligated to pray in a MINYAN (and therefor do not count for a MINYAN), they are still obligated to pray. Therefore there is a special place for women to pray in the synagogue. Besides for that they also can answer AMEN and KEDUSHA.
