Kashering a granite surface
If a person is beginning to keep Kashrut and wishes to make his kitchen kosher, can he kasher the granite kitchen counters? If so, in what manner?

Answer: All kinds of granite countertops may be kashered. This is done in the following manner: Boiling water is poured over the whole surface while a white-hot stone is being touched to the surface. Experience shows that this action does not damage the counter. Someone who is nevertheless concerned about possible damage being caused by a white hot stone being passed over the counter may kasher the counter by having a millimeter of the entire counter surface scraped off.

There are no hard and fast rules about white shirts. In general, a white shirt is considered to be a modest but respectable garment, and a person should wear clothing that is respectable.

Also, part of the day is spent standing in prayer in front of the Creator, and this certainly warrants respectable attire.

In any case, the main thing is not the external garments, but rather the spiritual ones, namely, a person’s thought, speech, and deed. Physical clothing is only a means to the end, the goal being purity of spiritual garments.
